10 Activities You Must Do This Summer

Dear Summer,

Lately, I have been so bored! It’s been hard to find fun summer activities that include social distancing. So, here I have compiled a list of things to do when you are bored:

  1. Have a bring your own lunch picnic with your friends.

I’ve done this a couple of times with my friends, and they were so much fun! You could do it at a park, your church grounds (if they are big), or your very own backyard. Feel free to dress up and bring some fun blankets to sit on to stay apart from each other. If you are going out of the house, you might as well look cute while doing it!

  2. Go on walks or a hike while listening to a podcast or a book.

I use the app Libby to listen to library books on my phone, and I highly recommend you download it. I also adore podcasts; click here to see what my favorite podcasts are. I’ve recently gone on a few hikes with some of my friends, and it is so much fun and great exercise!

  3. Buy a blow up swimming pool.

Since many pools are closed for the summer, this is the next best thing! I recently saw so many people on social media do this and it seems so relaxing to sit and read a book while soaking in a pool and tanning.

  4. Try to pick up a new hobby!

Whether it's a new sport or a musical instrument, you never know what you could be good at until you try! I have been working on learning the guitar and the piano which can be difficult at times, but I love it. So get up off of the couch and try something new and productive!

  5. Go berry picking with your friends at a local farm store.

This is one of my favorite things to do during the summer because I like to eat as I pick-haha! There's cherries, strawberries, blueberries, and I'm sure that there are many more. My personal favorite are strawberries because they are just so sweet!

  6. Organize, declutter, or redecorate your house or room.

Decluttering is  a great way to earn some cash by selling your old things to stores like Plato's Closet, Depop, or Poshmark. It feels so satisfying after a deep clean because your room is organized and it can make the space more relaxful and productive.

  7. Do a Photoshoot.

I recently did a photoshoot with a friend and it was so much fun because we let our creative minds explore! You can also do a photoshoot by yourself! I now love to use the self timer and I absolutely love taking pictures of my gorgeous friends.

  8. Put together the ultimate summer playlist (then share it with me).

I also just did this and I’m loving my new tunes. The ultimate playlist can contain whatever bops make you feel ready for summer. Whether it's country, indie, or pop; whatever floats your boat! Right now, I'm really loving Harry Styles, Jack Johnson, and Quinn XCII.

  9. Try to make something new in the kitchen!

It's fun to try different foods and recipes, especially if it's from a different culture. I love learning how to bake and cook because it is an important skill to know before you become an adult, and you can learn so much about a culture that you didn't know before!

  10. Find out what you are passionate about by educating yourself on world events.

Find some credible sources that you can trust and learn about real life issues. For instance, one of the things that I educated myself on was the fast fashion industry, which is now something that I feel very strongly about.

I hope that you have a great start to your summer!
