What I Got My Family For Christmas

 Dear Summer,

During this Christmas season, it is important to remember that Jesus is the reason for this holiday. We are celebrating Christmas because Christ came down to earth to save us all from our eternal punishment. Christmas reminds us of Good Friday, when Christ took on all of our sin in our place and died the worst death ever. Although that was not the end, He rose again in three days and is waiting for those who believe in Him in heaven. So first of all let me say a big “Happy Birthday!!!” to Jesus because he is the reason for the season!

This year I decided I would set a budget for my gifts. I set a budget of $10 per gift for every person I was spending for, including my friends. To save up, I would put about $25 away per month starting in October. Some secret santas came up in late November and early December so I had to accommodate those and put a little extra towards those gifts since they were each $10. To prevent spending this gift money or accidentally getting it mixed up with my other savings, I would have a Christmas money envelope that I put all of the saved up money in each month. This envelope was very helpful and I got to decorate it with some fun stickers and coloring. I found that saving up my money made the Christmas season less stressful as I could buy some of my gifts earlier and plan things out more. Setting a budget also helped me to not splurge on some gifts and made me think creatively to fit the budget. I had such a fun time trying to pick out gifts for my family so without any further ado, here they are!

  1. I got my brothers the game Bears v. Babies. Both of my brothers love to play board games like Catan, Exploding Kittens, and Ticket to Ride, so I figured I would buy them Bears v. Babies by the makers of Exploding Kittens. This will be such a fun game to play together to ring in the new year.

  2. I got my mom two items from two different local shops in Mechanicsburg. From Brittle Bark, I got some tasty dark chocolate covered pretzels. From Glitz Soap Co., I got a lipstick that my mom has been wanting for a while. I'm so excited to see her face when she opens up her gifts. I have one of Glitz’s lip butters and I love it! Unlike other chapsticks, I only have to apply it once in the morning and I am fine for the rest of the day! This is something she will use on a normal basis and will last her a really long time.

  3. My dad is the hardest to shop for in my family. Whenever I ask my dad what he wants for Christmas, he always says something like socks. WHICH IS SO BORING! This year I decided to think outside of the box. My dad drinks coffee everyday, which is why I decided to get him some speciality coffee from Pure Bean coffee roasters. Pure Bean is a small coffee roasting business in Harrisburg that gives 10% of their earnings to WildHeart Ministries in Allison Hill, Harrisburg. WildHeart Ministries seeks to rebuild, restore, and revive the Allison Hill area of Harrisburg. Since Wildheart has been in the area, the crime rate went down by 50%. This happened just by cleaning up the streets, hosting block parties, and planting gardens to promote beauty and community in the area. Buying from Pure Bean is not only a quality gift but you are also helping your community around you!

I hope that you enjoyed seeing what I got for my family this Christmas and how I did it. Have a Merry Christmas and always remember that Jesus is the reason for the season!
